Sheridan Historical Society plans field trip

“We will start near the George Rogers Clark monument and tour the Old Cathedral Church,” explained Donna Pickett, field trip tour director for the society. “This tour is diverse and includes a stop at the French House as well as the structures now part of the Indiana Territories Historic Site, a composite of structures once serving as the 1811 Capitol and Legislature for Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and part of Minnesota.”

Pickett added that this day-trip package, which includes two meals, will allow passengers a choice of venues in the afternoon wherein some may elect to visit the Indiana Military Museum or Grouseland’s Festival of Quilts. The museum is an impressive collection of military memorabilia, vehicles, artillery, uniforms and insignias from the American Civil War through Desert Storm.

“A visit to Grouseland, the home of William Henry Harrison, ninth president of the United States, will top off the package of experiences,” added Pickett.
