Major spring storm brings flooding fears to Illinois
CHICAGO - A major storm system moving east out of the Great
Plains has brought cold rain, high winds and the threat of
tornadoes and flooding to Illinois.
The National Weather Service reported several possible tornadoes
Thursday evening, including a reported touchdown near Lima in Adams
County, but no major damage was reported.
Gregg Cunningham of the Chicago Department of Aviation said
Thursday evening that more than 300 flights in and out of O’Hare
International Airport had been canceled since the bad weather moved
in earlier in the day. Delays at O’Hare were averaging 90 minutes
for all flights.
At Midway Airport, a few flights had been delayed 30 to 60
minutes, but no major cancellations were reported.
