Missing hunter’s body identified
Foster, from Ashburton, was 24 years old when he went missing during a hunting trip in the Avoca Valley near Lake Coleridge inJune last year. He was last seen by his fiancee Rachel Pawsey on 4 June 2007.
His body was spotted down an avalanche shute by a local helicopter pilot last week. Christchurch Search and Rescue brought his body out on 28 March.
Foster disappeared in wintry conditions. A ten day search was carried out in the area after Pawsey drove for more than four hours on an off-road track to raise the alarm.
Intensive searches in bitterly cold conditions over the next week failed to find any sign of him.
The body was identified by dental records.
